President Remengesau Receives Courtesy Call from Canada’s Assistant Deputy Minister for Asian Affairs

On May 7, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. received Canada’s Assistant Deputy Minister for Asian Pacific Donald Bobiash during a courtesy call made at the Office of the President in Ngerulmud.

President Remengesau and Assistant Deputy Minister Bobiash discussed different areas of cooperation between both nations, including capacity building programs, technical assistance and training opportunities.

Assistant Deputy Minister Bobiash conveyed Canada’s priority on oceans and their continued focus on the Pacific, including the small-scale development projects ongoing in Palau such as projects with Ebiil Society and the Friends of the Palau National Marine Sanctuary.

President Remengesau shared the Republic of Palau’s hosting of the 2020 “Our Oceans” Conference and expressed his hope for the Government of Canada’s partnership of the event.
