President Remengesau meets High School Runner from Ibaraki, Japan ahead of the 15th Palau Marathon

President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. welcomed 18-year old high school student Tatuya Kobayashi from Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan and his coach Kato Morihiro on Thursday, April 5th ahead of Kobayashi’s participation in the 15th Palau Marathon held on Saturday, April 7th.

Kobayashi, a known runner in Japan, finished the 10km (about 6.21 miles) category of Palau’s marathon with a time of 38 minutes and 42 seconds from KB Shell in Airai to Palau Pacific Resort.

During his visit at the President’s Satellite Office in Meyuns, President Remengesau welcomed the people-to-people exchange program between Ibaraki Prefecture and the Republic of Palau through sports. He further encouraged Kobayashi to share his experiences and help foster relationship between Palau and Japan through his peers and community.

The 15th Palau Marathon was the first running event Kobayashi participated in outside of Japan.
