President Remengesau Encourages the Youth to Participate in First-Aid/CPR and Disaster Preparedness Training
Speaking to participants of the 2018 Healthy Living Summer Convention for Palauan Youth, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. encouraged them to inspire other Palauans youth to participate in a similar program.
“So many lives are lost because no one knows what to do. Ask your peers to come on board and take part in this kind of program”, encouraged President Remengesau during their courtesy visit to the President’s Satellite Office in Koror on July 25, 2018.
Jay Victorino, who spoke on behalf of the participants expressed, “We learned a lot from the program, including the important role volunteers’ play. We also learned important basic lifesaving information such as First Aid and CPR.”
The 2018 Healthy Living Summer Convention for Palauan Youth is a summer program implemented by the Palau Red Cross Society through the Indian Government grant scheme with the objective of engaging and education Palau’s youth on the topics of health, well-being, First-Aid/CPR and disaster preparedness strategies. The program also included a field trip to Ngaraad State where participants were exposed to the early warning system bells and disaster management procedures.
The program was held from July 23 to July 27 at the Palau Community College Assembly Hall.
