President Remengesau Accredits new Ambassador of India to the Republic of Palau
On February 8th, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. accredited H.E. Jaideep Mazumdar as the seventh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Palau, further strengthening diplomatic relations and the bonds of friendship shared between both nations.
“Palau and India’s relationship has grown over the last few years. Palau appreciates the Indian Government’s support to our national and international priorities,” stated President Remengesau during the Presentation of Credentials Ceremony held at the Office of the President at the National Capitol. He further expressed appreciation of financial and technical assistance and hopes to work closely with Ambassador Mazumdar and the Government of India on areas of mutual interest.
“We are fortunate to have been of assistance to Palau in some capacity building and areas of priority. We look forward to continuing this effort and to increasing our bilateral relationship,” expressed Ambassador Mazumdar. “We are happy to work with Palau in areas of health, information technology (IT), and sustainable development.”
Over the past years, the Government of India have provided financial and technical assistance to the Republic on a variety of areas, including the Republic’s grassroots projects by providing annual grant aids for its Year of the Youth in 2016, the Year of Family in 2017 and now in 2018 for the Year of Good Health; and partnership in the International Solar Alliance Initiative in the implementation of national climate change goals related to energy security among others.
Ambassador Mazumdar was accompanied by his wife Madam Parvati C. Mazumdar and Robert Scaria, Honorary Counsel General of India to Palau.
The Ceremony was attended by Paramount Chief Reklai Raphael B. Ngirmang, Vice Speaker Lucio Ngiraiwet of the House of Delegates, Delegate Mario Gulibert, Senator Aric Nakamura, and members of the Cabinet.
