President Remengesau Accredits Indonesian Ambassador

On August 2nd, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. accredited H.E. Sinyo Harry Sarundajang as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Palau.

President Remengesau congratulated Ambassador Sarundajang and reiterated continued efforts by both nations to strengthen relations, stating, “I am very excited about our relationship and partnership. We have common passion protecting the integrity of the ocean and protecting the livelihoods of our people. I certainly hope that with your leadership we can continue to strengthen our efforts on these two mutual priorities.” He added, “The People of the Republic of Palau look forward to many more visits from you and a more engaging collaboration between our two island-nations.”

Ambassador Sarundajang expressed his commitment to promote a stronger cooperation between both nations, stating, “As the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Palau, I pledge myself that I will exert all my efforts, within my power and ability, to strengthen and deepen close ties and cooperation between our two peoples.”

The Indonesian Government is due to host the 5th Our Ocean Conference on October 2018 in Bali to be followed by the Republic of Palau in 2020. Given similar interests, President Remengesau expressed Palau would welcome early efforts by the Indonesian Government to ensure not only a successful 2018 Conference but also a seamless transition on the planning and hosting of the Conference in Palau.

The ceremony was witnessed by Paramount Chief Ibedul Yutaka M. Gibbons, Paramount Chief Reklai Raphael B. Ngirmang, Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong, Senate President Hokkons Baules, Delegate Mario Gulibert, Cabinet Ministers, Indonesia’s Legal Affairs and Territorial Treaties Director Bebeb A.K.N Djunjunan, Indonesia’s South East Asia Affairs Director Denny Abdi, and Indonesian Embassy’s Political Function Coordinator Eddy Mulia.
