Palau and Republic of China-Taiwan Strengthens Partnership and Cooperation

On July 27th, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. met Director-General Timothy Hsiang of the Techinal Cooperation under the Republic of China-Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), ROC Ambassador Wallace Chow, Special Assistant to Taiwan ICDF Secretary General Shang-Yi Huang and ICDF representatives Yu-Chi Chang and Ming-Hong Yen on ways in which Palau and Taiwan can further cooperation.

President Remengesau and Taiwan ICDF officials’ discussed possible cooperation in the areas of sustainable food production, information and communication technology (ICT), and public-private partnership to support economic development and overall national growth. President Remengesau further added, “Renewable energy is a top national priority that I hope Palau and the ROC can further cooperate on. As we look into a multilateral approach with other Pacific countries in achieving our shared renewable energy goals, Palau also welcomes interests for partnerships from the ROC in the area of solar energy.”

Ambassador Chow and Director-General Hsiang expressed the ROC and Taiwan ICDF’s commitment to work closely with Palau to improve cooperation and strengthen relations.
