New JICA Volunteers Arrive in Palau

On March 28th, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. welcomed two new Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteers who will be working with Koror State Government and the National Government.

President Remengesau met Yoshio Noguchi who is assigned to the Bureau of Public Works under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce, and Sonomi Shirasaki who is assigned to the Solid Waste Management of Koror State Government.

President Remengesau expressed appreciation for JICA’s unyielding commitment and partnership in building capacity and making a positive impact in the community.

Noguchi will be working with the Bureau of Public Works for the next two years while Shirasaki is on a short-term volunteer appointment with her tenure ending later this year. Shirasaki is looking forward to working closely with KSG SWM to teach different techniques in creating glass arts as well as contribute to the growth and advancement of the Belau Glass Art Project.
