Chief Justice Alexandro Castro of CNMI Accepts Presidential Appointment to Palau Supreme Court

On March 23, Chief Justice Alexandro Castro of the Supreme Court of the Common Wealth of the Northern Marianas (CNMI) accepted President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr.’s appointment to serve as a non-resident Associate Justice of the Appellate Division of the Palau Supreme Court.

“It is indeed an honor and privilege to join Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong and other distinguished jurists of the Palau Judiciary,” Chief Justice Castro expressed in his letter to of acceptance to President Remengesau. “I will do my utmost to apply the rule of law fairly and, in appropriate cases, take into account the norms and values of the People of Palau.”

Castro has served as the Chief Justice of the CNMI Supreme Court since September 2012. With a long and extensive career in law, President Remengesau expresses confidence that he will contribute greatly to the Appellate Division and the Palau Supreme Court.

Castro was appointed by President Remengesau on March 8, 2017. He is scheduled to take his oath of office to the Palau Supreme Court sometime in May 2017.
