President Remengesau Meets the Japan Mine Action Service Team

On June 25, 2018, The Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS) with Mr. Yoshiyuki Morita -JMAS Palau project Director, Mr. Yasuo Terada – JMAS Palau Office Representative, Ms. Azusa Onaga – Finance, Admin. Manager/Interpreter, Ms. Antonina Antonio -Assistant Admin. Manager, made a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Tommy E. Remengesau to discuss about JMAS’ next three (3) year plan to remove unexploded ordinances in the Republic of Palau.

JMAS Director Yoshiyuki Morita explained to President Remengesau that JMAS started underwater clearance in Palau in the year of 2012 and is now entering the last year of Phase two (2016-2018) and will commence to Phase three (2019-2021) which will start next year.

President Remengesau expressed his support for the team including his full support for JMAS Palau’s Plan for 2019-2021 in their efforts to remove UXO in the Republic.

JMAS looks forward to continue to help clear unexploded ordinances (UXOs) from the waters of Palau.
